Welcome to the roots of Village Green, a project that took root in 2006 and has since flourished into a thriving testament to the power of environmental stewardship.
Over the past 18 years, we have transformed arid hillocks into vibrant ecosystems, creating a legacy that speaks to our unwavering commitment to nature.

Time Travel Through Foliage: Village Green's Inaugural Hillock in 2006

Embark on a visual journey to 2006, capturing the humble beginnings of Village Green. Behold the barren hillocks that laid the foundation for our transformative project. This image marks the genesis of our commitment to environmental stewardship, a snapshot frozen in time as we embarked on the mission to breathe life into these hills.

For the 18 years, the Bhat Datari youths of Ammaiyar Kuppam village, next to K. Pet, have joined forces to green the village. Thanks to their selfless service, what used to be a bottle forest is now full of herb trees. The site now boasts a Japanese mountain temple, the Wariyar Dhyana Mandapam, situated in its serene Adiva Rath. The community forest and hilly area adjacent to this were once a barren expanse before the last eighteen years. The forest, once dry, became a focal point for recreation-seeking Tari youths from the village. Their desire to plant trees led to the initiation of the Aram Pitta afforestation project, resulting in the successful cultivation of five thousand trees. The diverse array includes banyan, government, fig, novel, and irapa trees, providing not only a scenic landscape but also a sustainable habitat for birds

Botal forest on that day; Herb forest today A victory for Our vision

From the once barren expanse of a bottle forest to the thriving herb forest that graces our landscape today, witness the transformation born from our collective vision and dedication. Each tree planted, each hill revitalized, is a testament to the victory of our shared commitment to a greener, more sustainable future. Let the journey from Botal to Herb be a symbol of triumph, echoing the power of unified action for the well-being of our environment and generations to come.

In the shadows of the past, where the term ‘Botal Forest’ held memories of aridness, today’s Herb Forest stands tall, flourishing with life and biodiversity. This transformation is not merely the evolution of greenery; it’s a narrative of perseverance, community spirit, and a shared dream for environmental rejuvenation.
With every tree planted and each hillside revived, we’ve carved a victory for our collective vision—a vision that transcends time and echoes through the rustling leaves of the Herb Forest. This journey from Botal to Herb signifies the resilience of nature when nurtured and protected by a community dedicated to positive change.
As we celebrate this triumph, let it be a reminder that our actions, both small and grand, shape the landscape of our future. The Herb Forest is not just a place; it’s a symbol of hope, a living legacy of what can be achieved when a community comes together for the betterment of the environment and the generations that follow. May our victory inspire continued efforts towards a sustainable and harmonious coexistence with the natural world
